Traveling In Africa: How to Get To Sediba

Traveling In Africa: How to Get To Sediba

Your ticket is booked, your accommodations have been reserved, your daily activities are all  organized on your travel itinerary, just one last thing how do you get to Sediba?

Johannesburg is a much bigger airline hub than Cape Town  .   Chances are you’ll land there when  you first arrive in South Africa. And unless you’re coming from elsewhere on the continent, these  would be the estimated flight hours depending on which country you arrive from: 8 hours from  Dubai, 11 hours from Amsterdam, and 16 hours from New York.

From Johannesburg, you will have three options on how to get to Sediba Private Game Lodge,  either by road, via charter plane or via helicopter.

By road:

A quick search on Google Maps will show you that the distance between Johannesburg’s OR  Tambo International Airport and Sediba Private Game Lodge is approximately a 3 hour drive.  Car rental companies are available all over Johannesburg and for easy navigation through  Africa’s roads the most recommended vehicles are 4x4s or Jeeps.

● From Johannesburg follow N1 to Pretoria/ Pietersburg.

● At the Kranskop Toll Gate take left hand gate option (Nylstroom/ Marble Hall). Travel  through Nylstroom and drive 60km to Vaalwater.

● Go straight through Vaalwater approximately 24 km from Vaalwater on your left hand  side is the Welgevonden Main Gate.

● Carry on past the Main Gate for approximately 22km until you come to Schoongelegen  Road which is a gravel road. Turn left into Schoongelegen Road and carry on for about  17km until you reach Welgevonden West Gate on your left hand side.*

The lodges at Sediba are situated far from the gate, so to avoid inconvenience, guests  transferring themselves are to arrive at the Western Gate at the specified time as no private  vehicles are allowed in the game reserve and guests have to be picked up from the gate by the  lodge’s Rangers. Safe covered parking is provided at the gate on the inside of the reserve.
